Reclaiming Power in Our Voices and Mobilization

VSC’s Community of Voices is where healing meets power, helping returning citizens reclaim their power, rebuild confidence, and use their voices to drive change. Through shared experience and advocacy, clients transform personal journeys into collective action by actively participating in political systems to restore justice and equity in the D.C. and DMV area.

Train Our Voices (TOV) is a 33-week program designed to equip VSC clients with the skills and knowledge to advocate for meaningful community change. Rooted in history and the Civil Rights Movement, the curriculum teaches resistance, advocacy, and strategies to address the challenges justice-involved individuals face today.

Clients learn from legal professionals, judges, and justice experts about advocacy in action and gain hands-on experience speaking at D.C. Council meetings, collaborating with advocacy groups nationwide, and engaging directly with Capitol Hill to influence policies affecting reentry and justice reform.

TOV isn't just about helping our clients reintegrate back into society, but it cements their place and their role into the decision-making and change that is happening in the District.❞  — VSC Chief of Staff, La'Nasa Clarkson
